Additional Equipment VAPORIZERS CERJET™ CATALYST VAPORIZERS The CerJet unit generates catalyst gas and heated purge air for use in certain cold box core making processes. In the CerJet liquid catalyst such as methyl formate or dimethylethylamine is vaporized in an electrically heated boiler. The catalyst vapor is then directed to the core machine, followed in sequence by heated purge air as programmed by the user through a supplied PLC. Flow meters assure correct gas and air volumes. Three models are available with capacities to cure up to 12 tons (10.9 mtons) of chemically bonded sand per hour. Up to eight core machines can be served by a single machine depending upon the capacity and vapor control options specified. The CerJet catalyst vaporizer has been designed on a modular concept. The modules consist of the boiler, boiler control module and vapor control module. By use of the modular concept, single or multiple-point use can be accommodated quite easily. The CEL-100 model is available as 1 or 2 use-point units, while the CEL-300 is available as a 1 to 4 use-point units, and the CEL-600 model is available as a 1 to 8 use-point vaporizer. Operation The vapor is conveyed to the vapor control module ( via purchaser-installed heat-traced lines) where it is mixed with heated air and introduced on demand into the mold or core box. As an option on MeF applications, flow meters can be furnished to provide exact ratios of MeF to air for optimum gassing system control. Controls Installation Electrical interconnection between the boiler, vapor control module and the core machine (if required) is also the purchaser's responsibility. Safety Upon start-up, compressed air from the vapor control module is used to purge the lines of any residual catalyst. Should boiler pressure become low during operation, due to either a malfunction or an over demand of catalyst gas, an interlock is incorporated into the design of the vaporizer to prevent the core machine from cycling until sufficient catalyst vapor is produced to complete the gassing cycle. Should an overpressure or overfill condition occur, an alarm will sound to alert foundry personnel. Dependable Foundry Equipment Company can also supply gassing cabinets, lab catalyst vaporizers (Microjet) and tensile test specimen producing equipment.
