Sand Heaters

Our heaters provide a steady flow of warm sand at a typical temperature of 75° F (25° C) ± 5° F (3° C) to continuous mixers or batch mullers. Our design assures the most efficient heating by circulating fluidized sand around electric heating elements. These compact units are designed for easy installation beneath the sand supply hopper, just above the mixer or muller. A built-in bypass allows direct flow of sand to the mixer/muller in warm weather. There are ten basic Dependable and Carver models offered.

DEPENDABLE Square Sand Heaters
The new Dependable square sand heaters offer the foundry the most compact, reliable means of heating sand prior to bonding. More consistent, predictable mold quality and strength is achieved by eliminating the variable of sand temperature. The DSSH units are designed to deliver sand to the mixer in a constant 70° - 90° temperature range. Models are available to supply a complete range of output from 20 to 160 KW to serve most customers' mixing volume and heating needs. These units will deliver the desired temperature sand to accuracy within ± 5° F (3° C)

An air system requiring only standard shop air provides fluidization of sand within the heater for even distribution of heat. An optional small pressure blower can be supplied with the heater.

Sand flow through the heater is controlled by the ON-OFF button at the mixer. All electrical controls are housed in a N.E.M.A. cabinet which may be mounted to a wall or column. The heater's design includes a removable plate located on the side of the heater for easy access to the heating elements.

Sand By - Pass System
The sand by-pass system allows sand flow to the mixer to by-pass the heater when the weather is warm. The sand inlet and outlet points are both located on the same side, allowing easier installation while using less overall vertical space than other sand heater designs.

These units are designed for easy installation with all Dependable and Redford Carver Continuous Mixers and may be used in conjunction with other manufacturers' mixers as well.
