Sand Heaters

CARVER B Series Sand Heaters
Carver B series sand heaters assure smoother running no-bake molding and core production by maintaining accurate sand temperature within ± 3° F of set point. Without the use of heaters during cold weather, catalyst levels may have to be increased by as as 50% in typical furan and phenolic systems to maintain desired strip times.

By Pass
A built-in bypass feature is incorporated in all Carver B series sand heaters to allow normal sand flow through the heater or bypass of the heater elements and fluidizing bed. Manual movement of a lever operates the bypass device.

Sand is fed by gravity and fluidized air through the heaters. Sand flow may be controlled at the heater outlet by means of a customer-furnished metering device or by an optional Carver air operated butterfly discharge valve.

Carver sand heaters utilize a unique switching system to regulate the heating elements. Full power is used only when necessary to achieve desired sand heating. Reduced power is used when Delta T levels are sufficiently low ( Delta T = desired sand temperature - incoming sand temperature. an adjustable dial is provided on the control panel for convenient setting of temperature level.

Safety
Carver electric sand heaters meet the National Fire Protection Association requirements for safety control of electric heating systems. In case of partial or complete loss of electrical power or air pressure Carver sand heaters automatically shut off. A safety horn and shutdown light alert the operator. The same safety features are activated by a thermocouple which senses abnormally high temperature resulting from any possible malfunction.

Air Requirements
Standard Carver heaters utilize plant compressed air. An air filter and pressure regulator are pre-installed on each unit. Sand heaters are also available with optional independent air supply systems.

All Carver sand heaters are furnished completely pre-piped and pre-wired to terminal strips for easy installation. The inlet and outlet flanges are standard pipe sizes.

Carver's electric sand heaters have been designed to meet your most demanding production requirements as well as all applicable safety standards. That's why they are fast becoming the most popular sand heaters in the foundry industry today.

Carver B Series Heaters features a 45° inlet/outlet design and are well suited for installations requiring maximum horizontal distance between inlet and outlet.

All heaters are furnished standard with an air operated butterfly valve at the inlet to maintain a constant flow rate of sand into the unit and to avoid sand flooding in the event of long periods of idle conditions.

Sand Heater Specs

Carver Heaters
are offered in
40, 80, and 160 kw. All models feature an energy-conserving heat controller, automatic sand gates, easy access for maintenance, removable heating elements and a mixer-mounted on/off control.

A screen mesh and bar fluidization media plate is incorporated into each sand heater. With no cloth media, Carver sand heaters reduce maintenance caused by an unclean air supply.
