Compaction Tables

Dependable Dual Force Compaction Tables

One of the advantages of chemically Bonded sands, is their flow ability before setting up. The application of vibration during filling of the mold or core box maximizes the sand density and is vital to the production of dimensionally stable and erosion resistant cores or molds. Dependable Compaction Tables provide controlled vibration of the mold box as it is filled so sand flows freely into all areas and is densified with little or no manual ramming. Compacted molds improve casting finish and produce less scrapped castings.

Quick Payback and Improved Casting Quality
Foundries that install compaction tables in their molding or core-making loops soon recover their investment through reduced scrap losses and increased productivity as a result of reduced hand ramming.

The Dependable Compaction Table consists of two primary parts: a roller conveyor section and the vibration section. The rollers allow easy movement of the mold box onto and off of the table. Tables can be ordered with rollers to match the roller width of the conveyor system into which they fit. The entire roller frame is mounted on pneumatic lifters which allow raising for conveying or lowering for compaction. In addition, the lifters isolate the roller bearings from additional loading resulting from vibration.

The vibration section consists of a heavy welded steel framework driven by dual electric vibratory motors. The vibration section is mounted on solid rubber isolators mounted atop a steel support frame which is bolted to the floor.

Operation Sequence
Rollers are raised and the mold box is rolled into place on the table. After the mold box is positioned under the continuous mixer discharge, the rollers drop down leaving the box to sit directly on the table top. At the operator's command, vibration is applied to the box. Full or approximately half vibration intensity can be selected as needed.

Larger tables may be manufactured with standard or alternate motors to provide standard or alternate dual force ratings. Control of the vibrating sequence and its duration is performed manually by the operator at the mixer discharge. The on / off switch for the vibration sequence can be foot activated or mounted at the continuous mixer control panel for hand activation.

Size Range
Our 5 popular sizes range from 36" x 24" (914 x 610 mm) to 108" x 36" (2743 x 914). This range of  compaction tables are available with maximum capacities ranging from 2,250 lbs (1020 kg) to 15,000 lbs (6804 kg). Special models with larger capacities, dimensions and unique vibrating requirements are available.
