Hollow cores may be effectively produced by the well-established shell method using resin coated sand. Shell core production is relatively fast and efficiently mechanized. Hollow cores offer the advantages of reduced sand consumption, easy breakdown during the shakeout process and excellent casting finish. Dependable Shell Core Machines feature hydraulically powered rocking motion of the corebox to ensure that sand is invested into all cavities, and that after investment, all loose sand is drained away before cores are cured and removed. "M" and "S" models utilize a manual rocking action. A unique toggle-type corebox clamp assures a tight seal. Faceplate design permits user placement of auxiliary gas burner tips for proper heat distribution with irregular patterns.
Manual or hydraulically powered machines are available with a variety of manual, semi-automatic and automatic control options. Four machine model groups are available as listed in the table below.
